An invaluable tool that improves precision, safety and efficiency in any workshop.
A benchtop clamping vise is an essential tool in any workshop or garage, offering a range of benefits for various tasks, from woodworking and metalworking to DIY projects and repairs. Designed to hold objects securely in place while you work on them, a benchtop clamping vise ensures precision, safety and efficiency.
The new Work IQ vise has a number of great features that make it well worth considering.
Company: Work IQ Tools
Model: IQ Vise
Price: $279.99 US
Made In: Overseas
Source: Work IQ Tools
Features:
The Work IQ provides a firm and stable grip on the workpiece, allowing you to work with both hands without worrying about movement or slippage. This is particularly useful when cutting, sawing, drilling, filing, or sanding, as the vise keeps the material in place, preventing it from shifting or vibrating. The strong grip ensures accurate results, whether you’re working on wood, metal, or other materials.
The vise comes with a pair of non-marring jaws that protect wood, plastic, or soft metals from damage. You can securely clamp materials without leaving unwanted marks or dents on the work surface. The jaws enable you to accommodate different shapes and sizes of materials, further increasing the vises versatility. Four other types of jaws are available that effectively enable you to turn the Work IQ into a woodworking vise, pipe vise or metalworking vise. These include the Sure-Fit jaws for odd-shaped parts and flat or delicate items; Pipe-Fit jaws for securing PVC, cast-iron, copper or aluminum pipes and tubes; Leather jaws for a damage-free grip on fine wood and delicate items; and Woodworking jaws that have an increased jaw height and width for secure grip on fine hardwood and molding
The Work IQ features a swiveling and rotating base, which allows you to rotate the vise without moving the workpiece. This feature adds flexibility, making it easier to access different angles of the workpiece without unclamping and re-positioning it. This is especially beneficial when working on complex projects where multiple angles or sides need attention.
With the workpiece securely held in place, you can focus on making precise cuts, measurements, or adjustments without worrying about the material shifting. The vise allows for more controlled and accurate work, which is especially important for tasks that require exactness, such as intricate woodworking joints or precise metal cuts. A stable clamping mechanism ensures that your work is aligned correctly and doesn’t shift during operations like drilling or grinding.
I chose to attach the The Work IQ to a sub-base so that I could remove it easily from my workbench when not needed. You could easily take the vise to a job site and install it on a workmate.
Work IQ Tools also offers an IQ Connect hands-free accessory system that consists of three tools mounted on 24″ flexible goosenecks arms. On one end of the gooseneck arm is the tool and on the other end is an IQ Connect Clip. You can attach the gooseneck arms to the vise or to your workbench via IQ Connect bench mounts. The tools are a 180 lumen work light (the light can be removed from the holder and used like a traditional flashlight); a 5″ magnifying glass; and a cell phone holder.
There are other decent vises on the market, but none as comprehensive as the Work IQ. It’s an invaluable tool that improves precision, safety and efficiency in any workshop. Whether you’re working on woodworking, metalworking, or DIY projects, the vise provides a secure hold, freeing your hands and allowing you to focus on the task at hand.
