Recently I’ve had the opportunity to try several different pieces of HH Manchester 2.0 workwear in a variety of environments and conditions. Overall, I am very impressed with the quality and performance of every piece. Each item is well thought out, offers practical solutions to common problems with most work wear, offers a level of comfort, flexibility and durability that I’ve personally found missing in most work clothing.

For sizing, Helly Hansen’s offers a wide range of sizing options for all their items, making finding the right fit a breeze and accommodating to most body shapes. On top of which, not only do they fit well, but they also look good.

Of the three items that I tested (the Shell Jacket, Fleece Vest and Shell Pant) each were true to size and spacious but not baggy. The durability is apparent at first touch, you can truly feel the difference in quality compared to similar workwear.

The Shell Jacket offers plenty of length in the arms and includes intuitive pockets. The outer shell offers excellent breathability while keeping out the wind and rain. The detachable hood is spacious, especially if wearing protective headgear, but isn’t so big you think you have a ship’s sail on your back. One of the best yet simple features is the waist elastic, which can be tightened through pull tabs inside the main pockets which eliminates the chances of catching on anything and causing issues as you move through tight spaces.

The additional benefit of the Shell Jacket is the Fleece Vest. The Fleece Vest can be secured inside the Shell Jacket or removed depending on the need. The combination of the two gives you a level of warmth yet freedom of movement that is essential when outdoors facing the elements. Standalone the Fleece Vest gives you that comfort needed on the days that are cool but not cold, meaning overall the flexibility is perfect for you to adjust your requirements to the environment.

The Shell Pants are just as well thought out and durable as the Shell Jacket and Fleece Vest, offering a simple yet rugged design, these pants are perfect for working in wet weather, while offering protection and comfort against the elements.

One item I always gravitate towards when determining quality of clothing is the zipper. A robust zipper shows the quality of value put into the garment and its stitching. Helly Hansen doesn’t hold back in this test. Across all the HH Manchester 2.0 workwear I tested, not once did I feel as if a zipper could fail if pulled too abruptly or tear at the seams. The high quality YKK zippers used by Helly Hansen are a huge feature for me.

Overall, I was very impressed with each piece tested and I look forward to continuing to run them through the gauntlet of conditions I tend to find myself in. HH Manchester 2.0 workwear is something I would recommend to anyone looking for that ideal combination of durability, comfort, flexibility and fit.
