This type of box was used by artists for its mobility. Vincent van Gogh often used these boxes. I made my box from Cherry, Mable, and Walnut. Hardware used was a piano hinge, leather strap, and copper nails. It also has a draw with routed out grooves to hold brushes and paints. The top of box flips up to hold the canvas for the artist to use.
