At just 21 oz (about 600g) per boot, these are among the lightest waterproof work boots I’ve worn, and that weight savings really adds up when I’m working long hours in the shop. Less fatigue, more mobility — it’s a win.

What truly impresses me, though, is the KEEN.DRY membrane. It’s fully waterproof, but also breathable enough that my feet stay dry don’t overheat. That’s a rare combo in work boots, and it’s one of the first things I noticed after lacing them up.

The Synchro boots feature KEEN’s KonnectFit technology — an innovative heel retention system that provides a secure and locked-in feeling for the heel when you lace up the boots. It’s basically a free-moving cord that extends from both sides of the shoe around the back heel. As you lace up the shoes the cords stabilize the back of the heel, pulling the heel back and into the heel cup.

KonnectFit makes for a great fitting boot.

KEEN also uses a carbon-fiber toe cap instead of traditional steel. It’s 15% lighter, non-metallic, and still meets safety standards. I barely notice it’s there — exactly how a toe cap should feel.

Carbon fiber toe – light and strong

Another standout feature is the KEEN.ReGEN+ midsole. KEEN claims it delivers over 60% energy return, and while I can’t measure that precisely, I can say the cushioning is excellent. My feet feel fresher at the end of the day, especially on hard indoor surfaces.

For anyone working on smooth or potentially slippery floors, the outsole design is worth a mention. The oil- and slip-resistant rubber paired with well-defined lugs gives a level of grip that feels planted and secure.

Love them lugs

One more thing I appreciate: the Synchro is completely non-metallic. That’s a big plus for electricians, or anyone working in environments with metal detectors or sensitive equipment.

And if you’re someone who keeps an eye on environmental impact — like I try to — KEEN has taken some meaningful steps. The boots are made with environmentally preferred leather and are free from PFAS-based water repellents.

Bottom line? The KEEN Synchro is a lightweight, waterproof, safety-rated boot that doesn’t feel like a safety boot. It’s built for comfort and agility — ideal for indoor trades or light-duty outdoor work. If your job keeps you on your feet all day and you’re tired of clunky, overheated boots, these are definitely worth a try.
