Inspired cabinet

Canadian Woodworking

Nick lives in Lanark, ON and is the resident craftsman at Rosewood Studio in Almonte, ON.

This was my first cabinet and hence I wanted to give myself a challenge. I was inspired by the clean lines, asymmetry and bold veneer matches of the art deco masters. The carcase is put together with sliding dovetails and there are two hidden compartments in the cabinet. The door was veneered with the edge banding in place, then sawn open down the joint in the veneer match. The cabinet was made using Spanish cedar, mahogany, ebony, basswood, sapele veneer, Carpathian elm burl veneer.
