The original FESTOOL HL 850 planer comes equipped with a single blade, which can be challenging to sharpen when it dulls or chips, and replacing it can be expensive. Sheartak has developed a helical cutterhead designed for this model, featuring 14 carbide inserts, each measuring 15mm. Each insert has four cutting edges, and they are arranged at a shearing angle to ensure a smoother, more precise cut. Special inserts at the ends enable a rebating function, a feature highly valued by woodworkers.
The total cutting length of this new cutterhead is 2.5 times longer than the original blade, and each carbide edge lasts up to 10 times longer than the high-speed steel blades. Not only does a set of carbide inserts cost the same as the original blades, but their lifespan is over fifty times longer.
The cutterhead itself is made from hard aluminum and is dynamically balanced for smooth, vibration-free operation. Installation is quick and easy, taking just a few minutes to swap out.
This upgrade offers exceptional value, with significantly improved performance and longevity, making it one of the most worthwhile enhancements for your planer.
