Any options for a mobile bandsaw?

Any options for a mobile bandsaw?

You asked

I spend a lot of shop time in the "mobile shop" I built that flows out of my pickup bed. It is handy and works well. So far I have been able to supplement the table saw with my circular saw, I can use my router and a mini drill press setup with my drill. The problem is I cannot seem to figure out a mobile bandsaw. I figured something may be able to be done with a jigsaw, but I can't put my finger on the setup. All help is greatly appreciated.

Our expert answers

Hi Luke: There are some very small bandsaws on the market that might work for you – the Ryobi BS904G and King Canada KC-902C come to mind. Both are under 30″ high. Alternatively you could convert a jigsaw into a makeshift bandsaw by mounting the jigsaw upside down on a stable platform to create an inverted jigsaw table. You’ll be quite limited in the size of stock you can cut, and you won’t get the blade support or cutting precision of a bandsaw. There are a number of plans for these on the internet – just google something like “convert jigsaw to bandsaw”. All the best. Carl
