This White Ash bowl finished in classic black stain began with a chunk of white ash I air dried in the barn. Completely hand shaped using a variety of different tools; hand saws, chisels, electric hand planes, angle grinders with 40 grit discs, files rasp, etc. With a perfect round bowl shaped, I used a compass and protractor to mark off degrees on base and top of bowl. I used a dovetail saw and smaller saws to cut to certain depths along degree marks within profile. From there chisels, flat rasp, angle sanding blocks through different grits of sandpaper. Hand waxed.
