Maple leaf bowl

Art Betke, of Prince George, BC, made this pierce-carved, maple leaf bowl.


Betke designed the piece himself, but drew inspiration from fellow Canadian turner Brian McEvoy ( “After the leaves are all pierced,” said Betke, “you start cutting away the wood around them. It’s rather delicate work because the more supporting wood that’s cut away, the more fragile it becomes.”
