Strongsville, OH – Northeast Ohio tool manufacturer, Woodpeckers, recently announced its new Mortise Base for plunge routers. Using the guide rod attachment points found on most plunge routers, the Mortise Base places 2″ deep, micro-adjustable fences on both side of your stock. Between the adjustability of the fences and positioning the router on the guide rods, you have pinpoint control over the location of the mortise in your material.
If it has guide rods, the Mortise Base probably fits. Woodpeckers Mortise Base fits just about any plunge router. Big or little, corded or cordless, latest and greatest or a vintage classic. They offer 4 sizes of guide rods, 1/4″, 5/16″ (8mm), 3/8″ and 10mm. If you’re not sure of your guide rod dimension, use the chuck end of a drill bit to check the guide rod opening. The cleverly designed fence mounting system adapts to any spacing between the rods and any spacing from the rods to the bottom of the base plate (up to 1/2″).
The guide rods, fence rods and hardware are all stainless steel. The fences and brackets are milled from aircraft grade aluminum and surface-treated for appearance, corrosion resistance and friction reduction. This is a lifetime tool that can easily be reconfigured for any router you may get in the future.
Woodpeckers has focused on the needs of hobbyist woodworkers since 1988 and began manufacturing the majority of their offerings in 1993. The company makes precision layout tools, router tables and lifts, innovative clamping tools, carbide router bits and a wide variety of helpful shop products. Their facility houses a vast array of computer-controlled mills and lathes and employs over 100 skilled American workers.
