Joiner’s saddle square from Woodpeckers

Strongsville, OH – Northeast Ohio tool manufacturer, Woodpeckers, recently announced its new Joiner’s Saddle Square. When laying out joinery, you often need to wrap your mark around the corner of the workpiece. Aligning a traditional square and transferring the line invites inaccuracy. The Joiner’s Saddle Square offers an innovative solution. With two CNC-machined aluminum plates joined at a right angle, the “wrap-around” design gives you two 2-1/2” legs to mark both the face and the edge. Even better, the other end of the tool features slots on both faces that perfectly align to the intersection point of the two plates. Now, transferring common miter angles around an edge requires no guesswork at all.

Wrapping around an edge is just the beginning of the Joiner’s Saddle Square. The array of scribing guides consists of precisely drilled holes at 1/32” centers (1mm on the metric version) along the two square edges. The inch version is staggered in groups of four and the metric in groups of five. That makes finding your precise scribing hole simple: just locate the nearest 1/8th or 5mm and count the holes. Thanks to the tool’s right-angle design, one side reads left-to-right and the other right-to-left. No more trying to read upside down for every other scribing job.

Scales along the tool’s face and edges are graduated in 32nds. Again, you’ll find scales reading right-to-left and left-to-right, meaning you’ll always find a scale perfectly suited to the task at hand.

Woodpeckers has focused on the needs of hobbyist woodworkers since 1988 and began manufacturing the majority of their offerings in 1993. The company makes precision layout tools, router tables and lifts, innovative clamping tools, carbide router bits and a wide variety of helpful shop products. Their facility houses a vast array of computer-controlled mills and lathes and employs over 100 skilled American workers.
