Folding saddle squares

Strongsville, OH – Northeast Ohio tool manufacturer, Woodpeckers, recently announced its new Folding Saddle Squares. When transferring a layout line around a corner, even a slight misalignment can lead to poor-fitting joints or unsightly gaps. The Folding Saddle Squares wrap around the corner allowing you to mark both the face and edge at the same time. Woodpeckers employs a clever manufacturing technique to achieve perfectly aligned edges. The edges are milled after final assembly. After the parts are machined, anodized, engraved and assembled, they go back to the CNC mill. Both edges get one more pass, cutting both halves perfectly in plane with each other. And, the Folding Saddle Squares work equally well on angles larger than 90⁰. The hinge is tensioned to provide smooth angle adjustment and eliminate any lateral play.

The Folding Saddle Squares are precision straightedges that wrap around a corner. Tenons, splines, and cross-dowel joints are just a few examples of joints that require precise face and edge alignment. The Folding Saddle Square gives you that alignment automatically and is available in two sizes. The larger is 1-1/2″ wide and 7-1/2″ overall length and the smaller is 1″ x 5″.

Woodpeckers has focused on the needs of hobbyist woodworkers since 1988 and began manufacturing the majority of their offerings in 1993. The company makes precision layout tools, router tables and lifts, innovative clamping tools, carbide router bits and a wide variety of helpful shop products. Their facility houses a vast array of computer-controlled mills and lathes and employs over 100 skilled American workers.
