DEWALT announces Canadian “Grow the Trades” grant recipients
  • DEWALT is awarding nearly $4 million in Grow the Trades grants to 166 organizations across North America focused on skilling, reskilling and upskilling tradespeople
  • Grants and scholarships support trades education in fields including concrete, mechanical, finishing and pipe trades

MISSISSAUGA, ON., Sept. 20, 2024 – DEWALT®, a Stanley Black & Decker (NYSE: SWK) brand and leader in total jobsite solutions, announced it is awarding 12 Canadian organizations with Grow the Trades Grants. The Grow the Trades grant program is part of DEWALT’s $30 million commitment by 2027 to close the skilled trades gap by helping provide greater accessibility and resources for trades training in North America.

“As Canada grapples with how to address in-demand skilled trades gaps nationwide, DEWALT is committed to doing its part to fill these critical roles by supporting organizations who share our commitment to empower the next generation of tradespeople,” said Allan Hawes, General Manager of Stanley Black & Decker Canada Inc.

The 2024 Grow the Trade winners were selected via a competitive application process based on their trades-focused initiatives providing certifications and credentials to skilled tradespeople. The funds will support those seeking careers in the trades including concrete, mechanical, finishing and pipe trades.

2024 Recipient Spotlights

Humber Polytechnic Centre for Skilled Trades and Technology

As a global leader in polytechnic education, Humber Polytechnic provides in-depth theoretical learning and hands-on, work-integrated experiences that are building lifelong employability for students at three main Toronto locations and beyond. DEWALT is proud to be a partner of Humber Polytechnic and its Centre for Skilled Trades and Technology, providing financial support for training, scholarships, tools, and equipment. The brand believes it is important to work with academic partners like Humber to help ensure that Canada’s young tradespeople have the training and tools they need for their future success.

Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning

Conestoga’s School of Trades & Apprenticeship is a provincial leader in the delivery of trades and apprenticeship training to serve industry needs and the growing community. Located in the state-of-the-art Conestoga Skilled Trades Campus in Cambridge, Ontario, the school offers a comprehensive array of programs in the construction, motive power, industrial and service sectors in response to the needs of industry, and growth in our local economy. College of Carpenters and Allied Trades Inc.

The College of Carpenters and Allied Trades, located north of Toronto, delivers construction skills courses under site simulated conditions in its state-of-the-art facilities. Students work on full scale construction projects. Real World Learning equips them with the knowledge and skills they need to work safely and productively for our Union Contractors.
