Free to Members: New Behind the Bench webinar series on routers begins May 15

We are pleased to announce a new 4-part webinar series on Routers.

Behind the Bench webinars are an exclusive free benefit for Canadian Woodworking members. If you are a member you will receive a digital invitation to all Behind the Bench webinars.

The webinars are hosted by Rob Brown, the editor of Canadian Woodworking & Home Improvement magazine and a studio furniture maker with over 25 years of professional experience.

The webinars begin at 7:00 pm EST and last for about 1 hour. There is ample opportunity for questions, and all attendees will receive access to our online Router Resource Kit.

May 15: Introduction to Routers & Bits
General pros and cons of routers, types of routers, cordless vs corded, bit overview (four general types, sizes, etc).

NEXT WEBINAR: May 29: Tips and Techniques for Using a Router
Hand held routing is the focus of this session, dangers, PPE, direction of movement, some general usage tips, climb cutting.

June 18: Router Tables
Pros and cons, make vs purchase, the importance of a fence, using a mitre gauge on a router table, dust collection.

July 3: Other Router Accessories
Edge guide, circle cutting, 90-degree fence, slab-levelling, flush trimming solid edging, mortising (fancy and basic).

  4. I have a Leigh dovetail jig but have trouble avoiding splintering. I have tried sacrificial boards but still have issues. Will there be time for discussing tricks of the trade?

  5. Will members be able to access the seminars afterwards? I would really like to see this but away on the first night.
